'Lets Go Round Again' by Louise.
Well, after much speculation about what the second single from 'Woman In Me' was going to be, it turns out that we are to be treated to this cover of the 'classic' 1980 'hit' for 'The Average White Band'. Being honest, I can't say I actually remember it f rom its first incarnation, which just goes to show that when I was 4, well my tastes weren't quite as diverse as they are now!
So, the single?? Well, lets just say that when Lou does disco, she does it well. The backing and production is of much higher quality than most of the seventies reworks that get thrown at the chart. The album version of the track is more like you'd have b oogied on down 20 years ago, (that is, if you were of boogying age), and the version on the single has more frequently used samples and effects that betray its ninties origin. As a single it's chief asset is its lyric which tends to work its way into the subconcious and refuses to leave. Make no mistake, its not a classic record by any means, but you will find yourself singing it, oh yes... you will!!
The mainstream version of the CD single has 2 extra tracks on it, 'Just When I Thought', which is another dance number, although without the addictive qualities of 'Lets Go....'. In short, its a tuneful track, but I can see why it didn't get on the album.
At first, I thought the second extra track, 'How You Make Me Feel' was worthy of a place on the album, but then I got out the album and had another listen, and realised that whilst being a strong track, with some cool lyrics and an 'interesting' male voca l breakdown in the middle, it doesn't have the *feel* of the album, and a B-side is probably its best placing.
The CD 2 version of the single just contains a number of remixes of the title track, the 'Radio Mix', the 'Colour Systems Inc. Amber Vocals Mix', 'Paul Gotel's Peaceful Warrior Mix', '187 Lockdown Vocal Mix' and the 'Rated PG Club Mix'. At the time of writing this review the single is topping the Club charts in the UK, and apparently the PG mix is well worth a listen.... S'cuse me for a minute won't you!!!!
Rich.
